I really loved "V is for Virgin" and I was really looking forward to reading the sequel, but I have to say I was sorely disappointed by it. It would have been nice if this book had been written with alternating points of view, instead of just Kyle's shallow worldview. It made me miss seeing things from Val's perspective and reading her thoughts about several things, and it also kind of destroyed the aura of "mystery" around Kyle. Sometimes "less is more", and this is true about Kyle's character, in my opinion.I expected to read a very romantic scene at Kyle and Val's wedding, but all we got instead was basically a shotgun wedding with little romance and no vows, just because they literally couldn't wait to go to bed together. It cheapened Val's whole "waiting until marriage" ideals, in my opinion. I guess I expected Val to not settle for less instead of somewhat lowering her standards for Kyle's sake. HE was the one who broke her heart, and yet he simply walks back into Val's life and almost immediately becomes her boyfriend, as if nothing happened in the last 5 years. In fact, the only reason he went back to Val's side was because he broke up with his previous fiancée! I expected him to search for Val just because he missed her and couldn't find real love elsewhere, not because his marriage plans fell through. It was also extremely annoying to see him brokenhearted about some other woman instead of Val. I think if the other woman hadn't cheated on Kyle, he would have happily married her and would never had gone back to Val's side at all, which really sucks big time.
I also miss the "YA" feel of the previous book, this one was written for adults and it really lacks that sense of "fun" we got in the first one.
I guess I'll do with this book what I always do after reading disappointing sequels: I pretend they don't exist and rewrite the story in my head instead. :)

A is for Abstinence V is for Virgin #2 eBook Kelly Oram Reviews
Oh, this one was even better than the first one. I enjoyed the passing of time and the maturity that both Val and Kyle exhibited. They both grew into themselves and it was a lovely second chance at first love book.
Val remained true to herself and her virture and I applaud her for it. I don’t know that its a feasible option for everyone now a days but I loved how she owned if for herself and didn’t look down on others for their different beliefs. I also like how she evolved from being the face of Not Everyones Doing It into starting her own adoption agency and being a double major at Stanford. This girl has serious ambitions!
Kyle seemed to have the most growth emotionally and while I wasn’t completely in love with him, (I couldn’t move past his previous behavior in the first book) He did redeem himself for the most part. Him having a previous relationship really helped him to be more understanding with regards to her choice. Their relationship seemed to go pretty fast since they had not seen each other in four years but it still felt right to me. She helped him to see past himself and use his fame in a less selfish and more productive way.
It ended predictably for me but that’s fine because its what I wanted to happen. ) PS, it has a character from one of her other books referenced in it. I love that! So go read it already!
A is for Abstinence by Kelly Oram is a follow-up/sequel of sorts to V is for Virgin. This time the story is told from Kyle’s perspective and can I just say it was perfect. I LOVED this book!!! It picks up about 8 months prior to the epilogue of Val’s story so you know where it’s going but also get what’s been happening with Kyle which again I loved.
Kyle Hamilton is (and I’m sorry Brian) my favorite Oram character. I’m in love with him! He’s confident, knows he’s sexy, and is unapologetic for it. He knows his reputation and in this book he’s working to prove to Val he’s a changed man. This is the Kyle I could see in Val’s story but he just wasn’t mature enough to admit it yet. He’s a man in love with a girl who he’s never forgotten and he’s out to win her heart this time *swoon*
Val has grown up a lot in this book. While we don’t get her perspective this time, there were a few scenes I really wish I could have known what was running through her head, specifically the music video. Val is the confident young woman I knew she’d grow up to be. She’s still toting her “Virgin Val” brand and you can tell it is starting to wear on her, especially as her friends are getting married and having children of their own. She’s ready for it but after the heartbreak of Kyle turning her away once, she’s hesitant and really you can’t blame her for it.
Overall I adored this book! While V is for Virgin is more for the mature young adult crowd, I would classify this one in a clean new adult genre. After all, Kyle is a rock star. I enjoyed reading this story from his perspective as he worked to change not only Val’s perception of him but the world’s perception of him. The abstinence bracelet Val gave him in the first book makes a reappearance in this one and he’s wearing it. How sexy is that?! If you enjoy clean, romantic comedy, I highly recommend you set aside some time and binge this book!
Honestly this was a great romance series. All the characters were really loved by me.
I really don't have much criticisms for this. I have to say this series was the most innocent romance I've read in awhile, but not too innocent lol
I laughed, and was touched deeply by this book. A great read!
P.S. I love Kyle <3 and Val <3
